What is auto-renewal on Data Subscriptions?

If you subscribe to a data plan, you will be prompted to turn on auto-renewal. This option helps your data to automatically renew itself when your data is exhausted. You will automatically be subscribed to the same data plan as long as you have enough airtime for the subscription.

Advantages and disadvantages of Data subscription auto renewal

The good side about auto renewal is the rollover data option. This helps your unused data plans to be added to the new plan when it resubscribes to the same data plan. Whether you are active or not. This way you don’t lose your unused data plans.

The downside about this is you get an unwanted subscription. You will be subscribed to a plan you don’t intend to.  Let’s say you don’t intend to subscribe to the same plan again, or you don’t even intend to subscribe on that sim or network. Your airtime will just be automatically deducted and you will be subscribed to that same plan.
