GOtv is owned and managed by MultiChoice Group and is one of the most popular and affordable pay-TV services in Africa. Like DStv (also operated by MultiChoice), GOtv makes use of a set-top decoder to broadcast digital channels to customers.
All GOtv decoders have a unique identifier number known as the IUC number. Without your GOtv surname, which is your username, and the phone number assigned to the GOtv, you will lose access to Log In, and you can’t update your GOtv personal information, activate or reset your GOtv account, check your GOtv balance online, change your GOtv package, check your GOtv due date, or clear errors.
The only method provided by GOtv to retrieve your username, surname, or login name is through the online process, in which you must log in with your IUC number and phone number assigned to GOtv. So how can you do that when you don’t have or have forgotten the phone number associated with your GOtv?
What’s IUC Number?
So many people don’t know what an IUC number is or where to get it. Firstly, what is the GOtv IUC number? An IUC number is a 10-digit identifier number that is unique to a particular GOtv account and GOtv decoder. Your IUC number is on an orange sticker under your decoder. It is linked to your decoder and your customer number that was created with Multichoice when you initiated your GOtv subscription.

In the same way, you can’t own the same phone number or bank account number as someone else, every decoder on the GOtv network has its IUC numbers.
Hence, the IUC number is also known as the Customer number/ID or the Serial number of your GOtv decoder. So if you are asked to provide your GOtv serial number, you should simply provide your IUC number.
The IUC Number is not just any number; rather, it is a very important component of your GOtv decoder and GOtv service at large.
When To Use Your IUC Card Number?
When logging into our digital platforms to make a payment, fix decoder errors, change package, and more, you will always need to enter your card number, mobile number, or surname. Ensure these details are updated with us!
How To Get Your GOTv IUC Number
In this article, I have guided you on how to get your Gotv user ID or IUC number. Without further ado, let’s get into the method.
Method 1:
- Click the MENU button on your GOtv remote.
- Scroll to ‘Information Central’ and click the OK button on your remote.
- Your IUC number should be shown on the screen, in the top-left corner.
Method 2:
If your GOtv is off and you can access the first method, do not worry; just turn the GOtv decoder upside down, and you will see your GOtv IUC number like a serial number plate on a red label at the bottom of your GOtv.

How To Get Your GOtv Surname And Username
Now you have gotten your IUC number; just head on to your bank application. I used the Stanbic IBTC mobile banking application. I believe all bank apps have the same function; the solution here is to attempt to subscribe, activate, or pay for a GOtv subscription using your mobile banking application.
Banking application
Open your bank app and locate ‘Pay Bills’, ‘Bill Payments, etc. Click on Cable TV or TV cable service or whatever looks like Cable and TV, select GOtv, and proceed to the place where you have to input your IUC number, input phone number (any phone number will work), GoTv package or bouquet, amount and proceed on subscribing for a plan.
Before proceeding to insert your PIN to complete payment, a confirmation text will pop up to confirm the account you are paying to; just like when you are transferring money to a bank account, the name of the account will quickly display for confirmation.
Your GOtv surname or username will be displayed to you; you can now quickly screenshot it or copy it down for later use.
Other methods
You can also use a mobile USSD code, ATM, or internet banking; this same method applies to any of them, or just walk into their center to request the name.

![Are you concerned about how your data subscription finishes quickly, and you are worried that someone might be using your data or sharing your data with you? Continue reading, as I have compiled all you need to know about checking who you are sharing data with and how to stop or prevent it. Code To Check Who Is Sharing Your Data With You Unfortunately, there is no code to check who is sharing your data with you, so stop searching or worrying because there is no valid way Airtel provides for customers to check who is using their data. Some blogs will recommend you dial a code, send an SMS, or use the My Airtel app. Nevertheless, there are still ways to monitor your data usage. This can be done in your phone settings. Always monitor your data usage. The apps and services are constantly using your data, so if there is something strange you do not understand, you can contact Airtel customer care by dialing 0802 150 0111. How To Share and Unshare Data Usage with a Friend Firstly, I have briefly explained the various steps by which your data can be shared, with or without your knowledge. There are various ways to share data usage with friends; I mean sharing the data subscription and not gifting or sending data to users. Data sharing is a situation whereby you add someone like a family member or friend to your data, and this user will be using your data simultaneously as you are using it too. This user doesn't have to be close to you and you don't have to be active or have your data turned on before this person can utilize this function. This means that even if our device is switched off, the person can still use your data, unless your data is exhausted. Similar to MTN data unshare, Airtel neither allows you to share nor unshare data. However, you can only transfer data on Airtel by gifting or using the Airtel Me2U feature. So do not worry; no one is sharing data usage with you. The only valid way is via hotspot tethering network sharing. [box type="note" align="alignleft" class="" width=""]Note: The Airtel data share service is to gift data only, not like Glo data share, where two or more people can be using a data bundle simultaneously. [/box] Frequently Asked Questions How do I stop Airtel data sharing? Sharing data on Airtel is not possible so as unsharing data too. Instead, you can only transfer or gift your data using the Me2U feature. This is if you want to give away data to friends and family. Since Airtel doesn’t have the share data feature as other network providers like Glo do. How do I know if someone is sharing my Airtel data? If your Airtel data gets exhausted too fast, it’s not due to it being shared. Just keep that in mind for you cannot share data on Airtel as you can on Glo. What is the code for sharing data on Airtel? There is no code to share data on Airtel as you can do on Glo. That means you can just transfer a calculated volume of data to another Airtel user. There is a code to transfer or gift data from Airtel to another Airtel line. How can I check Airtel shared data list? There is no code or any working way to check the list of the numbers sharing your data on Airtel. How do I know if someone shared my data on Airtel? Airtel doesn’t allow you to share data with someone like Glo subscribers do. So, no one can share or is sharing your Airtel data with you. Conclusion In this article, I have explained how you can check who is sharing your data subscription with you. Also, how you can stop them from sharing your data bundle with you.
